African Extracts Rooibos is one of South Africa’s top-selling beauty brands, and in 2017 celebrated 15 years of skin-care excellence and the amazing properties of the rooibos plant.

Our skin-care products are inspired by nature, formulated to international benchmarks, using world-class ingredients, and made at our sophisticated manufacturing facility in Cape Town.

The hero ingredient in all African Extracts skin-care products is an advanced Bio-Active Rooibos extract from fresh, green rooibos plants harvested in the Cederberg mountains of the Western Cape. This fynbos plant with its fine needle-like leaves and delicate yellow flowers grows nowhere else on earth. The extract is organic, made from plants that have been cultivated without chemical fertilisers or insecticides. It’s also known around the world as a soothing health tea.

Used for hundreds of years by South Africa’s first inhabitants, rooibos is rich in minerals and powerful antioxidants, including aspalathin and nothofagin, which act against free radicals. It’s known for its anti-inflammatory, skin-soothing and protective properties. Our products also contain other natural botanical and marine plant actives proven for their skin-care benefits, as well as vitamins and sunscreen.

In line with our promise of “skin care inspired by nature”, our products are not tested on animals, and do not contain parabens or plastic microbeads that are harmful to our oceans and rivers. All are vegetarian and the majority are suitable for vegans, too. Look for the vegan symbol next to each product on the website. We are proud to be endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty.

Find our ranges at pharmacies, major supermarkets, Dis-Chem, Clicks and online at Takealot.com and Zando.
